Throughout 2009, we were proud to throw our support behind a very worthy cause – Cara (Community Accommodation and Respite Agency). cara_logo

Cara is a provider of innovative support services for individuals with disabilities and their families, by the South Australian community.

To assist families in the south-western suburbs of Adelaide, a Children’s Respite was proposed for Weroona Avenue in Parkholme. The project was backed generously by Westfield as well as a host of Adelaide retailer’s and contractor’s.

Kitchens By Farquhar, in conjunction with the Kidman Park Rotary Club, were able to donate the kitchen and cabinetry for the project. Trevor Williams, a senior designer at Kitchens By Farquhar, worked alongside the builders and Cara staff to ensure that every need was met. Accessibility was of extreme importance throughout the design process.
The renovation of the Westfield respite house was completed in the latter stages of 2009 and the grand opening was held on Thursday 3 December 2009, International Day of People with Disability.
